petra-b’s personal place premier post – phew!

Here ye, here ye.  Introducing petra-b’s personal place! Come on in.  Right this way.  No!  No! Please don’t go.  That’s right, you’re in the right place.   Welcome!  Welcome to my new place.  I encourage you to come in and look around.  Feel free to ask questions or make comments.   Stay for a while, kick back, and relax.  Life is short, enjoy…

“What is this place?” you might ask.  Hummm, let’s see if I can answer that for you.  This place is very special to me.  It’s a lot of things.  It’s a personal website and all about me: petra-b.  It’s a place for my thoughts, my rants, my opinions, or just random stuff.   It’s a place to share my passions, post my photos, give props or pits.   And there’s more even.   After years of having, and for the most part ignoring, a personal website, I thought it was about time to update it.  I am retiring (or am retired, depending on when you read this) and I really wanted to do a better personal website.  Plus, I also wanted to join the blogging world finally and learn some actual blogging software for future not so personal blogs/websites.  I figured, what better time to convert petra-b.com from HTML web pages, to a WordPress blog.

So that’s yet another thing this place is, a place for me to learn and practice WordPress.  I’m pretty excited about it actually.  I’ve recently joined a WordPress meetup group and am on my way to learning more and more about WordPress and what it can do.  This is some powerful sh*t. Seriously!  So far (with help from my husband and ipower tech support) I’ve got WordPress downloaded and installed with a database, a FREE WordPress theme in which we’ve done some basic customizing, some plug-ins and some widgets.   I know, seems like a lot of technical geeky stuff and I’ve barely touched the surface of what WordPress can do.   I have so much to learn.  This is just the ticket for this newly retired (COBOL) computer programmer.

So I hope I’ve done an okay job explaining what this place is.  Maybe you’ll find it interesting enough to come back once in a while and visit.  We’ll learn some new things, for sure share some laughs, and maybe even a recipe or two.  This is a place to leave my mark…
